HOW CUTE ARE THEY!?
Lydia and I went to high school together - although we didn't really know each other. But when you grow up in FP, you just kinda know everyone...smallest.town.eva.
My love for this next series of shots knows no bounds...the rain held off and we got some amazing cloud cover and resulting muted light. YUM!
Lydia's Mom gave her this locket as an engagement gift. And guess what? I already forget the Italian to English translation of the saying. I AM MEMENTO.
Oh hi, I love this ring.
Cute!!
Ending with this one. The shot that I have aptly nicknamed "for the parents."
Lydia and Kieran I literally CAN'T WAIT to shoot your wedding in a few months! You guys are so up my alley :-)

<![CDATA[Mother's Day 2013]]>Sun, 12 May 2013 20:33:27 GMThttp://www.catherinedunbarblog.com/2/post/2013/05/mothers-day-2013.htmlShe made raising 5 kids look effortless. As the middle child, I never felt lost or forgotten. My favorite thing about my Marmy is that our relationship defies all stereotypes....we have never gone for manicures and we both hate the mall. I will never get sick of making her uncomfortable and laughie when I make self-deprecating jokes about my figure. My Mom has more friends than me and knows pretty much everyone in good 'ole Floral Park. She's where I get my big cheekbones, my early gray-hairs and my moody mornings.
And even though I'm almost 30 years old, sometimes life gets me down and I just need my Mommy.
And she's always there :-)

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY MARMY!!!!!! I love you!

Sometimes it's so fun just to relax and shoot for myself, with no pressure and no timelines.
She is FIFTEEN years old. FIFTEEN. Say wuutttt?
BEAUTEOUS!
Thanks for modeling Bec!!

Oh you know....just chillin in the cherry blossoms.

In front of the hospital where they both worked (and met)...

Here she is hangin with Mom and Dad...
Sears Family Portrait!!
Evenlyn is like a little watch baby. I don't think she took her eyes of me the whole time I was there. Strangers beware!!
FAVORITE!
Feet make a pretty good snack...

<![CDATA[Miscellaneousness]]>Tue, 09 Apr 2013 23:30:13 GMThttp://www.catherinedunbarblog.com/2/post/2013/04/miscellaneousness1.htmlWhy hello there! Welcome to another installment of "miscellaneousness"...where I bring you pointless tidbits from my life...

On this episode, we will talk for a bit about Joe and I's engagement photos...which were taken by the AMAZING Shira Z Photography. When we first got engaged, people started asking me right away about Joe and I getting engagement photos taken....but truth be told, I was pretty hesitant to do them at all.

First of all, I HATE seeing myself in pictures. Like, alot. Second of all, being all affectionate and what-have-you in public is not really Joe and I's style. However, I thought about it and thought about it and decided that NOT doing them would be pretty hypocritical so I called up my buddy Shira and away we went!

Long story short? I ended up loving the pics so much that not only was I SO glad we did it, but I got a whole photo book printed of my favorite shots!
I even made a save-the-date out of my favorite Shira-shots :-)
I think there's a moral here somewhere...something about just getting pictures taken, even if you think you hate getting pictures taken. I am not so eloquent tonight, but the point is...we will never be "engaged" again and I'm so excited Joe and I have something to show the Grandkiddies! Thanks again Shira!

<![CDATA[Arely and Jeff | Engaged]]>Sun, 31 Mar 2013 01:58:50 GMThttp://www.catherinedunbarblog.com/2/post/2013/03/arely-and-jeff-engaged.htmlArely and I worked together at my very first job out of college and on our lunch break we would sometimes (all the time) sit in my car and talk about what we wanted our engagement rings and weddings to be like...not because we were crazy...because we are GIRLS....and that is just what girls do, k? :-)

ANYWAY, fast forward 3 or 4 years and SHE AND JEFF ARE ENGAGED!!!! YAYY!!!! Oh, and I've also started a photography business. Put these things together and you've got Arely and Jeff's ADORABLE engagement session!!
Today was the unofficial first day of spring and the weather and sunlight was amazzzinnggg!
I have literally never met anyone who laughs more than Arely. Hang around her and you will feel like the FUNNIEST person alive!
Love this next set of 3. The exact same angle and posing, but 3 completely different shots. Aw shux, you guys sure are cute!
Tres chic! I love polka dots, but I can't pull them off. Arely in polka dots?? Pulling. It. Off.
The usual bonus points were awarded for laying in the grass....
Soooo the sun started to set and HOT DAYUMMM we got some gorgeous light!
Congrats Arely and Jeff!!! Can't wait to shoot your wedding dudes :-)

Nina is pretty hideous looking, no? GORGEOUS!
I feel like this next set kind of sums up Nina and Joe as a couple...
No shortage of AMAZING backdrops at this super cool Long Island City location...
Cuteness!
LOVE this shot.
Warming up after our session with some yummy cappuccino.
A) Congrats Nina and Joe!!! You are my most favoritest engagement session ever!!

She is so cute! And she looks JUST like her Daddy. Clone alert! We had a super chill lifestyle session in her nursery...
Sisters!
I know this one probably won't make it in a frame, but I like it :-)
What you lookin at Willis?
Happy Family <3 <3
For being only a week old, I couldn't believe how awake and alert Jordyn was throughout our session...
Rock star! LOVE her hair :-)
Jordyn Drew, it was such a pleasure meeting you!!! Congrats Lex and Howie! (and Remi).

<![CDATA[Gillies | 50mm f/1.4 test run]]>Wed, 20 Mar 2013 00:12:37 GMThttp://www.catherinedunbarblog.com/2/post/2013/03/gillies-50mm-f14-test-run.html
I upgraded to the 50mm f/1.4 lens from the f/1.8 a few weeks ago but I haven't had a chance to really play around with it. Some of these are soft because I'm not used to shooting at f/1.4 but I don't think Gillies minds too much :-)

I am wayyyy glad you can't hear the howl associated with these first few. If you are planning on getting a beagle, I hope you have ear plugs.
Still going...
f/1.4 doggy nose.
Our handsome pup! Really looking forward to getting the hang of this lens for my upcoming shoots...and YES, I'm aware that this was the most boring post of all time, OKAY!?
